When we last saw L’Oreal beauty Beyonce on the big screen, she was camping it up in “sexy” (read: laughable) 2009 thriller Obsessed, which was basically a knockoff of “sexy” (read: unintentionally hilarious) ’90s thriller The Temp. Needless to say, Bey’s been on the hunt for some classy movie material. The latest word is that she’s set to feature in a remake of A Star Is Born, the story (one of Hollywood’s favorites—this will be the fourth version) of a rising young singer who falls for a star whose career is on the decline. Clint Eastwood is said to be attached as director and producer. MTV News notes that Will Smith, Robert Downey Jr. and Jon Hamm have all been mentioned as possible male leads in the upcoming musical adaptation, though nothing has been officially set in stone yet.

Here’s Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson singing the Oscar-winning #1 hit “Evergreen” in a scene from the 1976 version of A Star Is Born:

Yes, we know—not quite as engaging as anything in the magical A Star Is Born-esque Glitter. But—sigh—can’t you just picture Robert Downey Jr. making that jam soar?
