Former Paramore Member Josh Farro Finds Solace In A New Band

While Paramore is wrestling up some new material, the band’s former guitarist Josh Farro is moving on. Farro is now involved in a new band called Novel American, made up of high school buddies. “Coming from Paramore, I didn’t think that I would want to be in a band or want to have anything to do with it, and so, when I actually found that passion and love for music again, I was like, ‘Wow, this is great.’” More details below:

Farro tells MTV how Novel American formed:

“Basically, I met these guys [Van Beasley, Tyler Ward and Ryan Clark] in high school… and we got together after the whole Paramore thing, and I was like, ‘I don’t know if I want to be in another band… But I called the guys, we got together, we wrote and we jammed, and it was great, so we decided, ‘Let’s do another band.’ And, honestly, I had some ideas that just didn’t fit with Paramore, and I said, ‘Guys, we can try these,’ and they just loved them, and so that’s really how it all started.”

As for what the band will sound like, Farro says, “We want to be a new breath of fresh air to the music scene. We all love Jimmy Eat World, so it’s hard not to sound like them, but there’s a little of everything in there. We’re huge fans of Radiohead, Sigur Rós, Explosions in the Sky … there’s everything in there, really.”

There’s no mention of Josh’s brother and former Paramore drummer Zac Farro being in the band, or if he plans to continue making music following the group’s messy split.

Could Novel American have the same success as Paramore? Leave your thoughts in the comments.
