MTV has confirmed the return of its animated hit Gen X series Beavis And Butt-head this summer, and it was none other than Justin Bieber—who wasn’t even born yet with the show premiered in 1993—who broke the news. “solid day in NYC. played hoops and just went to the MTV Upfronts…BEAVIS and BUTTHEAD are coming back!!!” the Never Say Never star tweeted last night. Beavis And Butt-head, which was created by Mike Judge and spun off from MTV series Liquid Television, initially ran from March 1993 to November 1997 on the network and focused on two dimwitted teenage metalheads living in suburban Texas. At its core, the show used the characters to turn a biting, critical eye on pop culture—particularly music videos.

Here they are ragging on Duran Duran and Reba McEntire:

So will the seminal ’90s series play in an era where music videos are all but extinct on MTV? Guess Beavis and Butt-head could always focus their brand of numb-skull cynicism on Jersey Shore. Lord knows there’s plenty of fodder with Snooki alone.
