‘Glee’ Gets Gushy For Valentine’s Day, Covers Michael Jackson And Katy Perry Again

What happens when you get the rights to cover Michael Jackson songs? You cover Michael Jackson songs as often as possible! For the second time in one week, Glee is covering the King of Pop — on Sunday it was “Thriller”, and Artie takes on “P.Y.T.” in tonight’s Valentine’s Day-themed episode, “Silly Love Songs”. But MJ isn’t the only pop star doing double duty this week — after turning Katy Perry’s “California Gurls” into a choreographed fire hazard, Glee salutes the teenage dream by performing a Xerox copy of “Firework.” Listen to tonight’s set list below.

Honestly, did they recreate any of the instrumentation of “Firework”, or just add Lea’s vocals on top of the original track? But let’s focus on the positive, shall we – at least Kevin McHale’s version of “P.Y.T.” is more than an robotized novelty. Feel the love tonight at 8 p.m. on Fox.
