Justin Bieber Disappointed He Didn’t Win Best New Artist — And So Are His Fans

Admit it — when it was announced that jazz singer Esperanza Spalding had won Best New Artist at last night’s Grammy Awards, you either muttered “What?!” or, more likely, “Who?” Spalding was one of the more obscure artists in the category — only people as hip as The President Of The United States knew who she was before last night, apparently — and even we thought the award was Drake or Justin Bieber’s to lose. Drizzy fans seem to have kept their composure upon hearing he didn’t win, but we only wish we could say the same for all the Beliebers out there who attacked Ms. Spalding the best way they know how: poorly written insults on the Internet.

Justin did admit that he was disheartened at his loss. “I had no clue what was going to happen; I worked really hard these past few years and you know, I’m not going to lie — I was disappointed,” Bieber told MTV News backstage at The Grammys after losing the award to Spalding. “But, you know, I’m gonna come back [next year] and we’ll take a few home.”

He also tweeted his dismay, and without saying any ill words of Esperanza: “As for the awards…of course I wanted to win. Its been & still is a dream to win a grammy. Was I upset…yes. But I was happy for her also.”

Bieber’s lack of sour grapes were lost on his minion, as they instantly revolted against the jazz singer by going into her Wikipedia page and slipping in not-so-subtle jabs.

Her hacked page included edits such as, “JUSTIN BIEBER DESERVED IT GO DIE IN A HOLE. WHO THE HECK ARE YOU ANYWAY?” and “SHE IS F–KING REATARD THAT NO ONE HAS HEARD OF SO BITCH PLEASE DIE!”

(Sidenote: Can Bieber please teach a video series on grammar, spelling and punctuation? Then his fans might actually know how to use the English language correctly when defending his honor.)

But don’t think Esperanza’s fans went down without a fight — they, too, shot back at the Beliebers with their own edits. “HaHa Justin Bieber, you’re just a little boy with no Grammy for Best New Artist,” read one comment before it was erased.

We’re sure Justin isn’t moping too much after his Grammy loss — his movie Never Say Never scored $30 million at the box-office this weekend. And how much did Esperanza Spalding’s 3-D musical biopic make? Oh, wait, she  doesn’t have a 3-D musical biopic? Well, I think we know who the real winner is.
