Mike Posner Thinks He’s Deeper Than You Covering Adele’s “Rolling In The Deep”

Does Mike Posner think he’s cooler than Adele? Well, probably not (who could?) — but that didn’t stop him from covering/remixing her gorgeous single “Rolling In The Deep.” The Afro-wigged ladies’ man keeps a few of the 21 track’s original vocals in a nice homage to the Never Been Kissed fan, and otherwise updates it to a very cool electronic piece in the same vein as “Cooler Than Me” that still somehow manages to retain the heartbroken feel of Adele’s original tune. Don’t believe this match could possibly work? Hear the full track for yourself down below.

It should come as a shock to exactly no one that Mike Posner doesn’t exactly have Adele’s soulful, commanding Voice (yes, that’s Voice with a capital V). But that’s clearly not what he’s going for. The raw emotion behind Adele’s original lyrics and melody still come through, while the bluesy song perks up remarkably well as a very modern, synth-driven track (that is probably still too sad to be properly labeled a dance tune).

What do you think? Is this at least as cool as Adele’s original?

Ewww, his voice is terrible and ruins this song. He needs to go away and STAY away from Adele tracks in the future!

Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep” is one of my favorite songs! Just got her “21″ album on itunes and no one can match her voice and lyrics! Check it out now!

Gross. I couldn’t even listen to all of it. Really not the song to be covering right now. It’s completely wrong for his voice (although not many songs would be….).

Call me crazy becuase I haven’t heard of this guy before now, so I may be biased. However, I feel like he could not deliver the raw emotion that Adele did for two reasons
    1. OK, lets be honest, he is BARELY singing, and in actuality, unless the volume is turned up, it sounds like he is simply breathing or just whispering.
    2. Adele sang the song with her vocals in a way which made you feel like getting revenge on that one ex- whatever that did you wrong in the past. Mike Posner sounds like he is trying to BED a woman with this song, which feels like complete opposition of what the song is about. He doesn’t seem (and I say seem because I havent heard all of his work) like he has much depth and his vocals suggest that he was only trying to sound cool, and the track does not deliver on that, either. If he actually put EFFORT into SINGING it and not whispering it, I might have a different opinion. Sure, plenty of people all over Youtube cover it, but they have a style that helps deliver the message of the song. Mike Posner just…doesn’t. I cannot speak for everyone, but I saw a comment on the video on youtube that someone uploaded with Mike’s cover, and several comments said: “HIS VOICE IS SEX!”
The song is NOT about SEX!

Ewwww…I like the beat, a lot. But ew…it’s like that thing from Lord Of The Rings…just creepin’…all over this track. But the that beat he needs to keep for later. Definitely.
