Glee‘s Matthew Morrison has been preparing his solo album for awhile, describing it as “a classier Justin Timberlake album… It’s going to be me and a big orchestra, but also with beats.” Well, either Morrison decided to go in a new direction since making those comments, or the rest of his album is going to sound nothing like “Summer Rain”, his first single that premiered on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show today. The easy-going ditty has much more of a Jason Mraz, Jack Johnson, Bruno Mars, “Hey Soul Sister”-y vibe than anything Timberlake’s ever released. Listen below.

Right up on the rooftop let’s make love in the summer rain,” coos Morrison. For a song about a very public sex act, this song is about as edgy as an episode of Glee. But hey, at least there’s no rapping! What do you think of Morrison’s first single? Personally, we’re still waiting for those beats to drop. [EW Music Mix]
