Lykke Li Drops By ‘Late Night With Jimmy Fallon’ To “Get Some”

While so many pop divas like to play coy with the sexy come-ons in their lyrics, others prefer to just tell it like it is (especially those from across the pond). Swedish chanteuse Lykke Li popped up on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon Thursday to perform her provocative “Get Some,” featuring such delightfully direct lyrics as, “Like a shotgun, I can’t be outdone / I’m your prostitute, you gon’ get some.” Watch the self-professed hooker make good on that promise below.

Clad in an all-black ensemble (not unlike the one she wore at her recent Le Poisson Rouge appearance) with dark makeup and hair pulled back for a mistress-of-the-night effect, the “I Follow Rivers” singer managed to make those lyrics sound like both a turn-on and a threat. No wonder she was right at home on the New Moon soundtrack. (She also plays a mean tambourine.)

Looking to get some more of Lykke? You’re in luck. Her sophomore album Wounded Rhymes is out now.

You’re reading it too literally. This song is not about seduction, it’s a strike back at the music industry’s exploitation and marginalization of female artists.
