As pop stars like Rihanna, Justin Bieber and U2 are lining up to contribute to a charity album for relief to Japan following the devastating 9.0 earthquake and resulting tsunami that struck earlier this month, Cyndi Lauper has actually been in the battered country since the natural disasters occurred, carrying on with tour dates behind her Grammy-nominated Memphis Blues album. On the flip side, Ke$ha has now postponed her scheduled stops in Japan and Korea. “My heart is with Japan right now through this disaster and these hardships. I genuinely don’t think right now would be appropriate timing for me to perform in Japan given the content and the spirit of my show, which is all about feeling exuberant, rowdy, and wild,” Ke$ha wrote on her official site’s blog, as reported by MTV News. “I plan to bring my party there and to that part of the world when we are all ready to dance and Get $leazy together again. In the meantime I am going to do everything I can to help relief efforts and I encourage everyone in the world to do the same.”

Last week the Black Eyed Peas’ music video for “Just Can’t Get Enough”—which was shot in Japan a week before the earthquake—premiered, and the band dedicated the clip to the people of the country.

Meanwhile, Lauper announced yesterday via a press release that she will be donating all her Memphis Blues royalties earned in Japan to the Japanese Red Cross. The “True Colors” and “Time After Time” icon also recorded a ringtone to sell in Japan through Kyodo, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to help victims of the natural disaster.

Cyndi has been posting her thoughts while in Japan over the past few weeks on Twitter. “I am on the bullet train leaving for Osaka. It’s quiet in Tokyo,” she wrote over the weekend. “Life still going on almost normal in Tokyo. Everyone is a little anxious because of the nuclear situation, but continuing…”

Yesterday she added, “Miss my family but have my music family and the warmth of the peeps I sing to. Tonight I will loose [sic] myself in the music and the rhythm…Along with everyone else who has a similar mind set. Peace to all of you. Xx Cyn”
