Maroon 5 teamed up with Coca-Cola in late March to make music history — write and record a brand new song in 24 hours, using fans’ musings on the @Coca-Cola Twitter stream for inspiration. Thankfully (and surprisingly), the completed song, “Is Anybody Out There”, does not include any Coca-Cola slogans as lyrics. Hear Maroon 5’s newest single and watch the group’s laborious day in the studio after the jump.

Maroon 5 – “Is Anybody Out There”

“Is anybody out there? / Can anybody see? / Seems like everything’s gone crazy / You’re exactly what I wanted / And exactly what I need / Don’t need anybody but my baby,” sings The Voice judge Adam Levine on the group’s quickly-written track. We’re surprised it took a whole day to come up with these bland lyrics.

Pick up a free download of the song over at Coca-Cola’s website. If you’re iffy on this tune, download it anyway — for the first 100,000 downloads, Coca-Cola will make a donation on your behalf to The Coca-Cola Africa Foundation’s Replenish Africa Initiative (RAIN) to provide access to clean water to people in Africa.
