Chris Brown Is “Treading Water” In Sensitive New Track

After teaming up with a Jonas Bro in the studio, Chris Brown continues his streak of inoffensiveness by recording a mid-tempo love ballad. The tune, “Treading Water”, will reportedly end up on Breezy’s F.A.M.E. follow-up, Fortune, and it’s about as far away from stripper odes as you can get. Listen below.

“Don’t want to drown in a river of your sorrow / I will swim a thousand miles just for one minute to see you smile / Treading water,” sings Breezy. A little bit corny, a little sweet, and definitely more SFW than a lot of his recent tracks. Brown embracing his sensitive side may help him tone down his aggressive public persona, but he’s got a long way’s to go before he convinces GQ to let him grace the cover of their magazine (via Necole Bitchie):

In a question asked last December (but uncovered recently), someone asks “Has Chris Brown ever been on the GQ cover? And if not, when will he?” The mag’s answer? “Might be a while. It is Gentlemen’s Quarterly, after all, not Ironically-Named-Magazine-That-Knowingly-Puts-Domestic-Abusers-On-It’s-Cover Quarterly.” Burrrrrn.
