Following the news that “Jar Of Hearts” singer-songwriter Christina Perri is featured on the roster for Lollapalooza 2011, we’re proud to premiere the intricate lyrics video for “Tragedy,” a track from her upcoming debut LP lovestrong. (It’s out May 10.) And like Perri’s recent Lyrics visual for “Arms” — which has racked up over 300,000 views on YouTube — the moody and mysterious clip for “Tragedy” was created by Elliott Sellers. Watch below! The song, which Christina co-wrote with her brother Nick Perri, finds the Pennsylvania-born artist exploring the darker side of a relationship gone bad.

And given Sellers’ attention to detail and painstaking efforts to create a properly somber tone with the objects presented (an old journal, a whirling fan, flowers in a vase, coins on a wooden floor) we’re pretty sure Christina could have slipped us the following clip, left out the word “lyrics” and we would have thought it was a real music video!

“‘Tragedy’ is my oldest song on Lovestrong,” Perri says of the Joe Chiccarelli-produced track. “I wrote it when I was 17. It’s my also my favorite on the album. Seventeen-year-old Christina is so proud — I could not have dreamed this song anymore perfect. ‘Tragedy’ was the first song I wrote about a broken heart. Later I would write ‘Jar Of Hearts’ about the same heart-breaking boy. I think it’s the perfect way to close the album and close my wound.”
