Reports say U.S. forces shot and killed Osama Bin Laden, the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks, on Monday in Abbottland, Pakistan. (CNN notes that DNA matching is under way on samples from the body.) “A small team of Americans carried out the operation with extraordinary courage and capability,” President Obama said while addressing the nation last night. “After a firefight, they killed Osama bin Laden and took custody of his body.”

Naturally there are many questions, there’s much celebration and a certain amount of symbolism, given that we’re just four months shy of the tenth anniversary of the crippling attacks on American soil.
