Hear Jason Derulo’s New Single “Don’t Wanna Go Home”

The other day we offered up a snippet of Jason Derulo’s new Robin S/”Show Me Love”-sampling single “Don’t Wanna Go Home,” and now the whole enchilada has surfaced. Head below to hear Jason interpolate Harry Belafonte’s calypso classic “Day-O (The Banana Boat Song)” into his own dance-pop jam — and see the seizure-inducing lyrics video.

Derulo is searching for a hot, drunken party on the dance floor in “Don’t Wanna Go Home.” Compared to his last few mediocre offerings, this single actually seems to have some fire. Of course, that could all be due to the familiarity of “Show Me Love” and “Day-O.” (Must Jason return to sampling to have a hit?)

We can’t deny the annoying ear-candy quality of “Don’t Wanna Go Home” — it’s the same sticky-sweet force that drew us to the “Tainted Love” hook all those years ago in Rihanna’s “SOS” — but if Derulo wants to achieve any kind of credibility in the pop world, he’d better establish his own sound fast.
