Justin Timberlake Tells ‘Vanity Fair’ He Hasn’t Spoken To Britney In A Decade

Like when he appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show last fall to promote The Social Network, Justin Timberlake was coy when discussing the prospect of releasing new music in the upcoming issue of Vanity Fair. “I wouldn’t say I’m not going to put out another [album],” the recent SNL host noted. “I would say that would be a bad bet, if you were betting. But I could see myself only doing one more big tour.” However, he was much more forthcoming on his past relationship with his onetime All-New Mickey Mouse Club co-star Britney Spears. Read on below. For those who need a refresher, JT gave a similar reply to Ellen last year when it came to the idea of offering up new music: “I hope I’m not done. For some reason I find I keep getting that question a lot, like I said, ‘I’m never doing music again’… I’m a male, and I lack the ability to do two things at the same time.”

Justin’s Vanity Fair piece is just part of the promo he’s doing for his two upcoming films — Friends With Benefits, which also features Mila Kunis (“I’ll never forget when Justin had to be on top of me with his right hand on my left pasty and his left hand on my right pasty,” the Black Swan Oscar nominee tells the mag. “My feet were getting numb, and I think his hands were giving out on him. It was a workout.”); and Bad Teacher, which co-stars his former girlfriend Cameron Diaz.

Speaking of exes, Timberlake seemed to clam up on the topic of Jessica Biel, but talked quite freely about “Till The World Ends” hitmaker Britney, who he says he hasn’t spoken to in roughly a decade:

“I wish her the best—that goes without saying. We haven’t spoken in 9 or 10 years. We were two birds of the same feather—small-town kids, doing the same thing. But then you become adults, and the way you were as kids doesn’t make any sense. I won’t speak on her, but at least for me, I was a totally different person. I just don’t think we were normal; there was nothing normal about our existence. We spent way too much time being the biggest thing for teenyboppers.” “It was exciting that we were having so much success and we could do whatever we wanted. And I mean that about everybody: Backstreet Boys, ’NSync, Britney, Christina. At that time, we could literally go, ‘Oh, man, let’s go to Bali,’ and we’d be on a plane to Bali. We were little kids with big toys. You do the math—that’s not going to last.”

Sigh. Kind of shatters all the era-gone-by pop dreams of those still holding out for some sort of romantic reconciliation between those two, doesn’t it?

Do you plan on seeing Justin’s upcoming movies this summer? Or would you rather he tear up his SAG card and get back to heating up radio with his dance-pop/R&B jams?
