With a Platinum album, hits like “Super Bass” and “Moment 4 Life” and an opening slot on Britney Spears’ upcoming Femme Fatale Tour, Nicki Minaj is truly on top of the world. So it’s not surprising that an unreleased track from the forver be-wigged MC called “Top Of The World” has surfaced. Rap Radar notes that the booming hip-pop track “sounds like it was created before her Young Money days.” Consider it a wishful-thinking premonition from Nicki then? Listen below. “I remember standing in the mirror, searchin’ for a winner but I didn’t see it in her / now I’m going from a zero to a superhero, oh-oh-oh,” Minaj sings on the chorus of “Top Of The World.”

The sample-heavy tune is an upbeat jam with a positive message of self-empowerment, for sure. But overall it seems a little too try-hard, and the song is clearly missing that little extra Nicki shine that some of her Pink Friday tracks boast.

Guess that’s why it didn’t make the cut for the album?

Are you digging Minaj’s “Top Of The World,” or do you think it’s better left unreleased?
