Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine swung by the Tonight Show last night, and, really, he should have seen a big red flag go up when Jay Leno dug up a 1991 clip of recent guest Jennifer Lopez dancing with New Kids On The Block. Check out the unearthed video of Adam as a kid, wearing a tiger t-shirt, ripped jeans and a leather jacket as he bumps and grinds to Bobby Brown’s “Don’t Be Cruel,” below! Leno baited the Voice coach by asking him about the first time he performed in public, which led to Adam discussing a place called Closet Stars in Los Angeles that he’d hit up and “perform” as a kid:

“You know how there’s that place as a kid where everyone has their birthday party? It’s like the trendy spot to have your party? This was the place where you went and it was kind of like karaoke, but you didn’t really sing the songs. You go backstage and they put these sunglasses and cool stuff on you.”

Oh, Adam. You should have just started running of Leno’s stage then. The Closet Stars video comes about three minutes into the interview.

Nice moves. But they’re nowhere near as slick as the one’s this kid busted.

Later Levine talked about working at Johnny Rocket’s as a teenager, and rumored tension between he and his Voice co-star Christina Aguilera. “They fabricate a lot of that, “Adam says. “A lot of that is kind of reality television fodder… She’s fine. We bicker like brother and sister.”
