Whatcha Say: The Good, The Bad & The Gomez In This Week’s Reader Comments

It was a big week in popdom! Britney Spears and Selena Gomez both dropped new videos (though only one featured a robot bodyguard pouring milk on top of his head), Adam Levine showed off his Jagger-like moves with fellow The Voice coach Xtina, and Beyonce traveled ’round the world with Target. Find out how your fellow Idolators felt about all this in this week’s batch of reader comments!

:: Naomi wasn’t a huge fan of Selena’s “Love You Like A Love Song” video: “Most parts of the video really didn’t fit with the song. If I were the creative director, I would have kept one scene, which would have been the beach scene, no pink horses. The beach scene fits perfectly with the song. I don’t know why they used different scenes.”

:: Reader Catherine, though, enjoyed the video, yet showed concern for those who cannot appreciate it as much as she can: “I’m not a fan of Selena Gomez, but I actually love this video. I”m just sad that all the 80s and early 90s pop culture references in this video will be lost on the majority of her under 20 fanbase.

:: Brandon knew which side he was on in the great Adam vs. Adam battle: “Not sure what the beef is there I like Maroon 5 but tossing disses at Adam Lambert is unacceptable. Maybe hes just bitter that Christina commends all the attention on the show and this is his cheap way of getting some type of press. It Irks me.”

:: Meg doesn’t think Adam Levine and Christina Aguilera are anything compared to the Rolling Stone in their new  song “Moves Like Jagger”: “Sorry…but…uh…no one BUT MICK JAGGER has ‘the moves like Jagger.'”

:: Justin M made it clear just how big a Robyn fan he is when checking out her performance at JetBlue’s Terminal 5: “I wish I could have been there!!!! I Can’t wait to see her open for Katy Perry. . . I’m honestly buying tickets just to see Robyn :)” We won’t tell Katy, Justin!

:: MaRihanna couldn’t keep from LOLing while watching Brit and Nicki perform live in concert: “O Goooooosh her moves are like the robot not functioning well at 3:00. I LMFAO! It’s so funny to watch!”

:: Why was in a spiritual mood when rolling his eyes at Beyonce’s Target ad: “LOL Target gets like 3 songs and 3 remixes. Wooppeeedoooo. Also all that inspiring stuff is wack. She stole music and stole choreo twice now. And why does this 4 cover look like the pose on “I am…”?!?!?! GOD!!!!”

:: We totally loved Britney Spears’ “I Wanna Go” vid, but Ellie sure wasn’t into it: “This is very childish, it shows that her sense of humor is immature. She does look like Avril and her hair is a the exact as Christina Aguilera’s in 2000 at the vma’s when she sang w/Fred Durst. It looks like she can’t let go the the time where she was really in and had everything going great for her and that was way back in the day. Look, I’m all for laughs and humor, but this was just sad.”

:: Dora seconded Brit’s appearance looking very Avril-like: “There is also a very obvious reference to Avril Lavigne: the pink streaks in her hair, and the vid for Sk8er boy: Britney standing on the top of the car.”

:: And finally, reader vertigoshtick noticed a common theme going on in modern pop videos after watching Britney’s “I Wanna Go”: “Ke$ha – cheese – rainbow gun battle. Britney – milk – paparazzi gladiators. What’s next? Madonna – butter – wizard’s duel vs. aging crones.”
