We have to note that, even though “Rolling In The Deep” won the most awards at the VMAs (for directing, art direction, editing and cinematography), we’re disappointed that Adele herself didn’t walk away with any of the bigger statues she was up for (Video Of The Year, Best Female Video, Best Pop Video).
We, of course, had predicted that the London singer would clinch the big one — Video Of The Year. Alas, Katy Perry upset the apple cart by snagging it for the visual for her third Teenage Dream single “Firework,” which was shot in Budapest last fall.
If Planet Pop were a perfect world — and run by us — we’d have given Katy the Best Pop Video moon man over Britney (“Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” was just so much more fun), and Adele would have begun music awards season with a giant win at the MTV shindig.
Oh, well — there’s always the Grammys.
