Last month we caught our first officially-released look at Rihanna on the set of the upcoming big budget action movie Battleship. And while that piqued our curiosity somewhat, the on-set interview Entertainment Tonight aired last night (and let’s face it — this was about 14 hairstyles, or at least a year-and-a-half, ago for Ri Ri) was just a bit ho-hum. Yes, the “Cheers (Drink To That)” singer was totally into her character Raikes. And, yes, she felt honored to be able to portray a US Navy officer, so she could give back to those who serve our country or something. But does that a good movie make? Er, watch below. “We worked with real military officers who were yelling at me, breaking me down, making me do push-ups,” Rihanna said during her exclusive ET interview. “They didn’t care about Rihanna. To them I was just a recruit… At that point I thought, is this necessary? Really?”

Yes, love — it’s called Method acting. Welcome to the movies!

Battleship is scheduled to hit theaters on May 18, 2012. Can you possibly wait that long, cinema fans?
