Katy Perry Announces Sixth ‘Teenage Dream’ Single

You’d think after making Hot 100 history and winning big at the VMAs, Katy Perry would put a sparkly bow on Teenage Dream and refocus her attention on a new album. Wrong! Perry is squeezing out as many singles from her sophomore album as possible, as Billboard reports that she plans to release the midtempo ballad “The One That Got Away” as her sixth single. Listen to it below.

If the tune ends up topping the charts like the rest of her singles, Katy would then have more #1’s from the same album than Michael Jackson – or anyone else, for that matter. But that’s not the reason they’re releasing the song to radio.

“If it goes to No. 1, that would be great,” said Greg Thompson, of EMI Music/Capitol Records EVP/marketing and promotion. “If not, we still have a Katy song on the radio in fourth quarter.”

Expect “One” to get a radio edit “touch-up” and a video.
