Patrick Stump’s debut solo album Soul Punk drops today, and its fusion of pop, R&B, soul, and dance is a far cry from anything he released during his ten years in Fall Out Boy. It will be interesting to see how FOB followers react to the singer’s new experimental sound, but going solo is never without its risks. Stump isn’t the first artist to either permanently or temporarily step away from the group that made them famous in order to pursue their own project.
