BET Hip Hop Awards winner Chris Brown will follow up his dramatic turn in last year’s Takers with another film for Screen Gems — the upcoming Planet B-Boy. The Hollywood Reporter notes today that production on the Benson Lee-directed “music-themed drama” began this week in Los Angeles, ahead of the cast and crew eventually jetting off to France for shooting. Jump below to watch a trailer for the original 2007 breakdancing documentary that inspired this new adaptation. THR reports that Brown will star alongside Josh Holloway (Lost), Laz Alonso (Avatar, Fast & Furious), Josh Peck (Drake & Josh) and Caity Lotz (Mad Men) in Planet B-Boy.

Benson Lee also directed the documentary the new film is based on.

Breezy’s fans will of course remember his previous big screen turn in a dance-themed flick, Stomp The Yard (also for Screen Gems).

Will you go see his latest foray into acting when it hits theaters?
