Coldplay Cover Rihanna’s “We Found Love” For BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge

With Coldplay’s Rihanna collaboration “Princess Of China” proving to be the surprise hit off the just-released Mylo Xyloto — it’s currently #4 on iTunes, despite the song not even being an official single — the UK band, who are expected to have the #1 album next week, paid tribute to the Barbadian singer, who has the #2 single this week, by covering “We Found Love” for BBC Radio 1′s Live Lounge series. Listen below!

We’re absolutely loving how Chris Martin & Co. rework RiRi’s Calvin Harris-produced club jam into a more organic, Doobie Brothers-esque blue-eyed soul ditty, complete with guitars and prominent piano chords. Where’s Michael McDonald for adlibs and backup when you need him? Probably off working with Holy Ghost! again.

And, it must be RiRi week — Coldplay’s cover comes just days after JoJo performed a live rendition of “What’s My Name”.

What do you think of Coldplay’s take on Rihanna’s current chart smash? Did they do her lead Talk That Talk single justice?

Rihanna’s We Found Love is soo catchy I just love it. If Rihanna collaborated with Jessica Ferguson, Lady Gaga, and Pink on a song I dont know what I’d do….I might dance my brains out lol….they are just great pop artist

I kinda think this just shows how weak Chris’ vocals are more than anything… He sounds good on Coldplay songs, but nothing else really.

WTF? Coldplay is in need of money, I see…

When will we see U2 with Katy Perry and Muse with Kesha?
