Rihanna’s “You Da One”: Listen To Her New Single

Yesterday we all heard snippets of all the tracks on the standard edition of Rihanna’s forthcoming LP Talk That Talk (out November 21), and today the album’s second single “You Da One” has arrived. It’s a bombastic reggae/dubstep hybrid produced by Dr. Luke that’s miles away from the sound of previous single “We Found Love”. Listen below. VH1 noted that Talk That Talk is the dirtiest pop album since Madonna’s 1992 LP Erotica. If that’s the case, “You Da One” must be one of the more tame jams on the record (though there is this lyrical bit of raunch, during the breakdown: “Yes I’m kinda crazy, that’s what happens, baby / when you put it down you shouldn’t-a give it to me good like that, shouldn’t-a hit it like that, had me yellin’ like that”).

Sorry folks, we’ve had to remove the song for now. We’ll re-post as soon as possible.

Overall, like “We Found Love”, it’s another bright and sunny offering from RiRi, who we’ve come to expect dark things from on occasion. Still, it’s not the most immediately catchy single we’ve heard from her. We’ll chalk it up to being a grower.

What do you think of “You Da One”? Does the song have what it takes to become Rihanna’s 12th #1 single on the Hot 100?
