As Mike Posner readies his follow-up to his debut LP 31 Minutes To Takeoff, the electro-pop crooner is unleashing The Layover (clever, Mike), a mixtape we’re assuming is only compiled of mellow, synth-aided covers of pop songs from the past, at least if these two recordings are any indication: jump below to listen to Posner’s atmospheric electronic tweaks to Oasis’ “Wonderwall” and Elton John’s “Rocket Man”. Now with rap interludes!

Much like he did with Coldplay’s “The Scientist”, the “Cooler Than Me” singer completely remixes these well known tunes into something a bit more fitting for modern day lounges and chilled-out clubs.

“Rocket Man (Elton John cover)

UPDATE: We’ve been informed that his mixtape will definitely not be all covers – check out what’s in store in the preview below:

The Layover drops November 20. Head on over to Posner’s Facebook page to sign up for a free copy.
