Katy Perry Desired To Star In Marilyn Monroe Broadway Musical

Katy Perry’s “The One That Got Away” — which is now her sixth Top 10 hit off of Teenage Dream — has been linked to the new Weinstein Company film My Week With Marilyn in a series of promos. But this might be just the beginning of Katy’s relationship with Marilyn Monroe, as film producer Harvey Weinstein has revealed that he hopes to take Monroe’s story to the Broadway stage — and have Katy play the iconic star.

“If the movie works, I would try to make it a musical and I would go to Katy first,” Weinstein told E! Online. “I think she can play Marilyn on the Broadway stage… I think she would be amazing.”

Though this isn’t a completely ridiculous notion — besides the fact that she’s making a pretty solid career for herself simply as a pop star — but considering Katy’s love of feline creatures, we think she’d be best in a revival of Cats, no?

Do you think Katy would be a hit on Broadway? Share your thoughts in the comments, and check out Perry’s pouty impression of the Hollywood legend (reenacting her famous scene in The Seven Year Itch) in this German TV commercial from a few months back. She’s certainly a more convincing Marilyn than Lindsay Lohan.
