Paramore Offer Up “In The Mourning” As Final Singles Club Tune

Dec 5th, 2011 // 6 Comments

Eleven months ago, Hayley Williams gave Paramore fans a sneak a cappella preview of the chorus for “In The Mourning”. She initially said, “I didn’t want to post the full thing yet because I don’t want people thinking it’s a new Paramore song. This is just something I wrote for fun. Hope you likes!” Well, turns out the track did end up being recorded by the band, as their final Singles Club offering. Give the song a listen below!

“In the morning I’ll rise, in the morning I’ll let you die / in the morning on my side,” Williams sings on the sweet, countrified tune.

Actually, those opening chords have us half-expecting to hear Stevie Nicks’ husky voice coming in at some point, given the slight resemblance to her and Lindsey Buckingham’s classic “Landslide”.

What do you think of Paramore’s final new song of 2011? Are you liking the direction the band has taken since the joint departure of Josh and Zac Farro last December?

  1. I don’t really like the country undertones of the song but i do love paramore. I just hope they don’t stray too far away from what their fans are already used to

  2. Brittany

The lyrics aren’t “in the morning on my side” It’s “In the mourning all my worries”

  3. Ayesha

Actually, Hayley sings in the chorus after the second verse “In the mourning…all my sorries” (not grammatically correct, as ‘sorry’ has no plural form, but that’s what she sings).

So Fleetwood Mac can make Landslide and have everyone call it a rock classic, but when Paramore tries something incredibly similar, the same people that praise Landslide call it “too country?” It’s amazing how hypocritical people are in judging music just because of the people making it. If you liked Landslide and called it a rock classic, then you should ADORE In the Mourning by Paramore. If not, then you really shouldn’t be judging music at all.

    • Hush

It’s really not that serious and who said that anyone here like Landslide? In The Mourning DOES have country music undertones as well as the song Landslide? Fleetwood Mac incorporated country music into a lot of their songs. You need to relax and take a chill pill
