Madonna’s “Open Your Heart”: At Your Request

As we continue to wind down our video adventure known as At Your Request, we are ordered today to celebrate one of pop’s biggest icons, Madonna — an order we are more than happy to fill. Below watch as we dissect a hit from the W.E. director‘s “Blue” period as we honor a time when a Madge controversy could be considered quaint. Our song command today of Madonna’s “Open Your Heart” comes by way of @kayteemurph. The track was the fourth single off of the Material Girl’s third studio album True Blue and it rose to number one on the Hot 100 chart back in February of 1987. If the Grammy winner’s infamous ensemble in this music video looks somewhat familiar, it’s probably because it was reportedly inspired by Marlene Dietrich’s character Lola Lola from the 1930 flick The Blue Angel. Back in the 80s, Madonna was slated to star as the cabaret dancer in a remake, but the film never materialized.

Be sure to tune back tomorrow for our final episode in this musical journey. While we try to track down a blonde spiky wig, tell us your thoughts on the pop star’s classic track below, or hit us up on Facebook.
