Best Music 2011: Oh Land Picks Her Favorite Album Of The Year

After learning Patrick Stump, Ellie Goulding and Skylar Grey‘s favorite album picks for 2011, we next hit up the enchanting Oh Land, who dazzled Austin at our South By Southwest Pray For Pop party earlier this year and wound up on our own Favorite 10 Out Of ‘11 album roundup.

We first teased this dreamy Danish diva’s year-end feature here on Idolator with a stunning gallery of photos featuring the singer. Now head below to watch Oh Land talk about her favorite album of 2011! Note: we sat down with Oh Land just before her show at Bowery Ballroom in NYC to get her take on who made the best album of 2011. Please excuse the bar’s comically loud ice machine in the background.

It’s James Blake’s self-titled LP that Oh Land, whose real name is Nanna Øland Fabricius, was smitten with in ’11. (Readers may recall that poplet Willow Smith, another fan of James Blake, told us that he’s an artist her fans might be surprised to find out she listens to.)

The “Son Of A Gun” singer describes the first time she heard Blake’s music a year-and-a-half ago. “I was in the studio with Dan Carey, who’s one of the producers on my album,” says Oh Land. “He played me this demo that James had done — Dan was going to work with him — so he played it for me and Dan was like, ‘You’ve got to hear this. You will love it’.”

Turns out Oh Land was impressed, if not completely blown away, by what she heard that day. “I just felt like there was a musical earthquake,” she says of Blake. “I just fell into this world of sounds I’d never really heard before.”

Looks like James has a big fan in Oh Land. Are you a fan of either of them? What did you think of their respective 2011 albums? Let us know below, or by hitting us up on Twitter and Facebook!
