On Christmas Day, Lady Gaga’s Monster Ball tourmates Scissor Sisters gifted their fans with news of new material! Sadly, there was no mention of the Fraggle Rock movie soundtrack, which Jake Shears and Babydaddy had been rumored to be working on. But there is a new song, as well as a full album, on the way. “We’ve spent 2011 making an album that we’re really proud of and can’t wait to share with you,” the band noted on Facebook. “Because you’ve been such good boys and girls, we’ll be kicking off 2012 with a sneak peek of a brand new song to whet your appetite for what’s to come.”

And that appetizer will be the song “Shady Love”, which is set to premiere next week, on January 2, on BBC Radio One in the UK. DJ Annie Mac will give the tune its first spin between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. that day. You can probably expect it to pop up online shortly after.

This time last year, Scissor Sisters were probably enjoying the fact that Night Work landed on our Favorite Albums Of The Year list. But on that same note, they were likely also annoyed that the record made our Worst Album Cover Art Of 2010 roundup.

Oh, well — you can’t have your cake and eat it too, Scissters!
