It’s a new year, and that meant it was time for us to whip up our 12 Most Anticipated Albums Of 2012 list. Other pop happenings this week included the surfacing of two new Lana Del Rey tracks, Rihanna being named the best-selling digital artist by Nielsen SoundScan, Lady Gaga’s revelation that she’ll have another album out sometime in the next 12 months and Kelly Clarkson’s album sales taking a dip, post-Ron Paul endorsement. See how our readers reacted to this flurry of music-related mayhem below!

:: Jesse Perez had an addition to our 12 Most Anticipated Pop Albums Of 2012: “Don’t forget Timbaland & Missy Elliott with their new albums coming soon!!! : )”

:: Marcin chimed in, too: “I look forward to new acoustic album from Kylie Minogue !!!”

:: randyh was all about Xtina: “I don’t know why Bionic got such a bad rap. I thought it was a great album and liked that the songs weren’t all the same style. As for new music, Madonna and Lambert are the two I’m most excited about but I do have a soft spot for Mika, so I’m curious about that release too.”

:: RtA1913 didn’t like the way we talked that talk on Rihanna Named Top-Selling Digital Artist, Beats Out Lady Gaga, Eminem: “Idolator i’m going to start to hate you because you are becoming in such a rihanna hater! First of all rihanna is not a singles artist, do I have to remind everyone how much Good Girl Gone Bad and Loud have sold?”

:: Eric Javier Rivera-García, on the other hand, didn’t love the way RtA1913 lied: “Ummm sorry to burst your bubble… but Rihanna IS a singles artist. Rihanna has 10 U.S. #1 singles and ZERO U.S. number one albums. Rihanna does not write/produce her own music. Instead, her execs get a team of highly-talented writers/producers to make ‘her’ songs (which is why she is able to release albums so quickly).”

:: Mike Gortney was seeing red, white and blue — but mostly red — on Kelly Clarkson’s Stronger Actually Fell In Sales After Ron Paul Endorsement: “You lying sack of manure!! Everyone knows that Christmas is the make or break time of the year for sales. Everybody goes out and buys gifts BEFORE Christmas. This of course includes CDs. The FACT IS – everyone sold fewer CDs the week after Christmas than the week before. Kelly moved up from 39 to 17 and you claim that was because she sold LESS CDs????? Yeah! and trees are a major cause of forest fires! Just tired of BS!! And yes, I bought her CD only because I love Ron Paul!”

:: Ty Richey was all about the money on Lana Del Rey Tracks “National Anthem” & “This Is What Makes Us Girls: “Must be nice having Daddy pay for everything…”

:: Meanwhile, MusicLvr‘s name said it all: “TIWMUG is amazing, my new favorite from her!”

:: Naomi was feeling Mother Monster fatigue on Lady Gaga Says New Album Out This Year: “Honestly, she needs to take a break. She just released Born This Way almost a year ago. She ended her tour last year and wants to go back on tour? This is what I don’t like artists doing. Take a break.”

:: Kelly agreed: “Anyway, I say Gaga focus on the tour. Last I heard, the Born This Way Ball was set to have 450 tour dates over 2 years. There’s no way she’ll be able to do that AND write, produce, and support a new album. I think she’s an amazing artist, but she could be more effective if she didn’t spread herself so thin.”

:: Amy felt misery on Taylor Swift Offered Role In Upcoming Les Miserables Movie Musical: “I have a lot of respect for Taylor but this is a terrible casting choice! Les Mis is one of the greatest musicals of all time and the songs are huge! You need a Broadway voice to pull them off and I’m not sure if she can do that! Lea Michele seems like a good choice and I would have said her star power was almost as big as Taylor’s, with the popularity of Glee.”

:: Cory‘s ears also ached at the thought: “I just find this casting to be a terrible idea. The fact that the singing for the film will be done live only adds to the miscasting, because, let’s face it: Taylor Swift isn’t the best live singer. I like her, but she’s made for the country genre. Having to sing a massive Broadway belter live while acting in an adaptation of one of the most famous musicals ever? I hope T-Swizzle starts vocal training…yesterday.”
