The Wanted To Make US Debut On ‘Ellen’ Tomorrow Ahead Of Tour

Can The Wanted, a quintet consisting of British and Irish members, succeed where bands such as Take That, Boyzone, Westlife and JLS have not in the past — by cracking the American market? They will if Ellen DeGeneres has anything to say about it. UK duo La Roux famously saw their single “Bulletproof” rise in airplay — and subsequently won a Grammy — after a performance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show two years ago. The Wanted are hoping to mimic that success with their own tune “Glad You Came” once their Ellen performance airs tomorrow.

In just over a year, The Wanted have released two albums, their self-titled debut LP and its follow-up Battleground, in the UK. The Steve Mac-produced “Glad You Came” was the second single off their sophomore effort, and it became their second chart-topper overseas in July. The guys got a big intro elsewhere in the world in 2010 when they opened for Justin Bieber during his shows in South America.

Incidentally, the gents’ names are Max George, Jay McGuiness, Siva Kaneswaran, Tom Parker and Nathan Sykes.

The Wanted — “Glad You Came”

Here in the US, “Glad You Came” is the five-piece’s debut single, and is currently available on iTunes.
