Lana Del Rey’s BBC 6 Music Interview & Performances: Listen

Jan 24th, 2012 // 3 Comments

Lana Del Rey recently sat down with BBC 6 Music personality Huey Morgan for an interview, and she also brought along her band for performances of  “Video Games”, “Blue Jeans” and “Born To Die”. Yes, performances. And — would you look at that — she sounded just fine. In fact, the stripped-down “Born To Die” was downright impressive (not to mention quite mellow). Anyway, Del Rey discussed her influences with Huey, as well as the early days of “Video Games”, the song that made her famous.

“It actually didn’t get much of a reaction at first, because when I first started playing it for people, on the demo, it was just me and a piano,” Del Ray says of her debut single. “People said, oh, that’s a nice song, but move on and try to write something upbeat.”

Lana recently admitted that she doesn’t think she’s a good performer on live TV. How do you think she did in this British radio appearance?

  1. Evan

I think it’s obvious now that nerves just got the best of her on SNL. Not everyone will like her vocal stylings, but that’s life. Hopefully most people will give her a second chance though. She and her team puts out good music and that’s what counts the most at the end of the day. I’d like to hear her perform “Off to the Races”. That song is dope. It should be her next single.

  2. It seems like — the smaller the audience (in front of her), the better she sings. I’m fine with that. That version of ‘Born to Die’ ruled.
