Throw your pom poms in the air! M.I.A. finally confirmed what we all pretty much knew already — the “Bad Girls” singer revealed to BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe that she will, indeed, be performing “Gimme All Your Luvin'” with Madonna and Nicki Minaj at Super Bowl XLVI.

“Yes, I’m going to the Super Bowl,” Maya said during her first interview in months. “Actually I’ve never been to the Super Bowl, so it’s my first time. I’m going to be performing with Madonna and Nicki Minaj. If you’re gonna go to the Super Bowl, you might as well go there with America’s biggest female icons.”

During her interview, Maya touched on why she wanted to work with the Queen of Pop. “As musicians, we’re two women and we represent two opposite sides of the world. If we can come together on a piece of music or something like the Super Bowl, I feel like that’s actually a cool thing to see this year because it’s getting silly out there.”

(Silly? What could she mean? Our first guess would be this, but since she and Nicki are pretty tight nowadays, maybe not.)

“[Madonna] is the original,” she says. “If you’re gonna support someone, that’s a pretty dope achievement. I’m sure my mum is gonna be way [more] into that than me putting [debut single] ‘Galang’ out.”

After she performs at the Super Bowl, the “XXXO” artist is focusing on completing her album. “I want it to be a summer thing ’cause it’s a summer record. As soon as I finish the Super Bowl, I’ve gotta do another couple of weeks with European producers.”

In addition to her halftime performance, M.I.A. will appear (in cheerleader/jock garb, no less) in the video for Madonna’s lead MDNA single “Gimme All Your Luvin'”, which premieres Friday. A preview will air on American Idol this Thursday.
