We are truly shocked and saddened by the untimely death of Whitney Houston, and it looks like we aren’t alone. Many of the pop legend’s collaborators, peers and fans took to Twitter to express their grief upon hearing of the passing of this extraordinary talent. Read their reactions below.

Mariah Carey: “Heartbroken and in tears over the shocking death of my friend, the incomparable Ms. Whitney Houston. My heartfelt condolences to Whitney’s family and to all her millions of fans throughout the world. She will never be forgotten as one of the greatest voices to ever grace the earth.”

Interviewed on the red carpet at Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy party turned Whitney Houston tribute, Epic Records CEO and judge on The X Factor L.A. Reid said he was “really hurting” and that “it will take a long time to heal from this.” Referring to Whitney’s mentor, Reid said “Clive Davis is the only man who has the right to decide how to honor Whitney Houston.”
