Hours after Whitney Houston was pronounced dead, her body remains at the posh Beverly Hilton hotel even as music luminaries honor her at Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy party-turned-memorial elsewhere in the building. While law enforcement sources tell TMZ there were no “obvious” signs of foul play in Houston’s death, authorities are conducting a thorough investigation of the scene.

Houston was found in the bathtub of her room, TMZ reports, and while investigators on the scene are free to seize items in plain view, they are reportedly sought a search warrant for Houston’s room to allow for a more comprehensive search.

A hotel guest told the Los Angeles Times that the area near Houston’s room was completely cordoned off with crime-scene tape. Separately, they told the newspaper they had spotted Houston’s cousin Dionne Warwick in the hotel.

In the meantime, Davis’ event continued in a hotel ballroom, where pop vocal icon Tony Bennett opened the show with a performance. Bennett, who is nominated for a Grammy for his duet with the late Amy Winehouse, called for the legalization of drugs, much to the approval of Diddy and others in attendance.
