Katy Perry’s “Part Of Me” Lyric Video: Watch

If you watched last night’s Grammy Awards telecast, then you caught blue-haired Katy Perry’s debut performance of new single “Part Of Me”. The singer is newly-divorced from ex-husband Russell Brand, and with lyrics in the Dr. Luke- and Max Martin-co-produced dance-pop jam like “you took my light and drained me down, but that was then and this is now,” we can’t help feeling the smack of irony here. (Note: a demo of the song leaked over a year ago, while Katy was still presumably happily married.) Watch the official lyric video for the new tune below. Katy Perry — “Part Of Me” (lyric video)

“Part Of Me” is the lead single off Perry’s re-tooled Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection (out March 27). And, now that we’re hearing the full track, it sounds appropriately like an after-thought. Without any memorable chorus (melodically, it’s all a bit monotonous, isn’t it?), “Part Of Me” fails to reach the soaring heights or brandish the irresistible hooks of previous singles like “Teenage Dream”, “Firework” and “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)”.

What do you think of “Part Of Me”?
