Perhaps in part — or totally because of — viewers interested in what would be said or done in tribute to the late Whitney Houston, the 2012 Grammy Awards scored phenomenal ratings. Thirty-nine million people tuned in to the broadcast, giving the awards show its largest audience since 1984, the same year when Michael Jackson picked up a record-breaking eight awards, including Album Of The Year for Thriller and three separate Grammys for Best R&B, Best Pop and Best Rock Male Performance. (Don’t worry, Adele, sweeping with six trophies is still very impressive.) [Via THR]
