Many students will agree that assemblies are one of the more boring parts of their school year, but the kids at Martin Luther King Magnet School in Nashville got the thrill of their lives when Drake stepped onto the stage. Taking a break from rehearsals, the “Take Care” rapper spoke to the crowd about staying in school and following their dreams, then handed over one more exciting surprise.

Drake, who dropped out of high school to pursue acting, told the kids that he did wish that he got his diploma and eventually learn how to play piano. He also added that his friends, family and his every day experiences have shaped the artist he is today. But Drake didn’t come to the school empty handed. At the end of his speech, he announced that he was going to give away 10 tickets to his show. According to the video, the principal was left to choose which students would get to go.
