Usher’s Dramatic “Climax” Video: Watch

As if Usher’s single “Climax”,which details the struggles of loss and yearning when a relationship goes south, wasn’t dramatic enough, the music video adds a whole new dark element to the song. In the clip, Usher sits in a car outside a house where a woman — his former girlfriend, we presume — is getting intimate with another man. Ush pulls a gun out of his glove compartment and agonizes over whether or not to enter the house.

In the end, after mulling over the different scenarios in his mind, the singer drives off. Good thinking, Usher — she’s really not going to want you if you’re behind bars.

“Climax” was co-produced by Ariel Rechtshaid, Redd Stylez and Diplo, and it serves as the first single from Usher’s upcoming seventh studio album. As we mentioned last month, we’re totally digging the restraint on what could have otherwise been a three-minute, showy display of vocal acrobatics and trendy production.

We’ll also give Usher props for taking a stab at a slower number after his recent chart success with several dance tracks.
