Though Glee had a tendency to shoot for fish in a barrel and cover #1 hits and major songs from some of music’s biggest artists, it also acts as a launchpad for some lesser known acts. The show helped fun.’s “We Are Young” top the charts and gave Lykke Li’s “I Follow Rivers” some airtime, and now we have Darren Criss and his on-screen brother (played Matt Bomer) perform Gotye’s collaboration with Kimbra, “Somebody That I Used To Know.” Watch below. The performance can be seen in the upcoming episode “Big Brother”, which will air April 10. Bomer, who stars on White Collar, will also perform a medley of Duran Duran songs with Criss during the episode.

“The Duran Duran was just fun pop and it was great to get to dance and interact and use the whole one-upmanship of all that,” Bomer told Entertainment Weekly. “But to me, I love the Gotye song because it’s so actable and so immediate and so inherently dramatic.

“Somebody That I Used To Know”

Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used To Know” is currently #4 on the Hot 100. Not so coincidentally, fun.’s “We Are Young”, Kelly Clarkson’s “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)” and The Wanted’s “Glad You Came” — all which have been performed on Glee — round out the Top 3 on the singles charts. It’s basically inevitable that Nicki Minaj’s “Starships” (#5) and Adele’s “Set Fire To The Rain” (#6) will be Gleeked-out between now and the end of the season.
