Katy Perry Was Seriously Going To Be In ‘The Help’

Though Katy Perry‘s cinematic efforts thus far have been limited to voicing a blue cartoon character popular in the 80s and playing herself, the pop star had more respectable, dramatic roles in mind. In her recent Teen Vogue interview, Perry reveals that she was supposed to appear in the Oscar-nominated box-office hit The Help. “Just a small part, I wasn’t going to be Emma Stone or anything,” she says. “But I couldn’t because the shooting schedule conflicted with the release of my record.”

“And I was upset about that,” Perry continued. “I knew it was going to be an important film. Not that I need to do drama first, but I do want to do something that makes a strong impression. You don’t really get off the hook being a musician first… I feel like the stakes are really high.”

We have no idea who she would have played — one of Skeeter or Hilly’s friends with a few lines here or there, most likely — but we would have been so distracted by Katy Perry’s presence that it would have taken us right out of the film. And besides, we don’t want to see Katy doing drama as a supporting player, we want to see her be a star shooting whip cream from her boobs. Or at the very least, wearing funny wigs and being silly.
