‘The Voice’: Jessie J Knocks Down Her “Domino” And Four More Singers Get Knocked Off The Show
Monday night (April 9), Cee Lo Green and Adam Levine each tried to prove the Season 2 winner of The Voice is on their team, and two may have already proven themselves true contenders, if the iTunes rock chart is anything to go by. Overnight, Juliet Simms’ version of The Police’s “Roxanne” and Tony Luca’s rendition of Peter Gabriel’s “In Your Eyes” both rode their way up the digital sales chart. “Laserlights” beauty and judge of the UK’s version of The Voice, Jessie J brought her glittery skeleton suit stateside and performed her song “Domino” with the remaining members of Team Christina. We here at Idolator are six for six in our predictions so far! Up first Kim Yarbrough takes on “Spotlight” by Jennifer Hudson, with a big voice that is unfortunately flat through most of the performance. Karla Davis goes back to country with Bonnie Raitt’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me,” but the song is tinged with desperation and wracked by pitch problems. Katrina Parker’s turn at “Don’t Speak” is the last shred of hope for Team Adam, and she manages a workmanlike cover of the No Doubt hit. For that reason, Adam chooses to save her.
Tony Vincent tries to infuse “Sweet Dreams’ by Eurythmics with his dramatic vibe, but it’s more scary than drama. Cheesa does Eric Carmen’s “All By Myself” with a high level of growling, and successfully hits the power note for a big finish. Erin Martin tries to go back to her quirky girl roots, putting her particular affectation on “Your Song” by Elton John, but it’s not enough to capture Cee Lo’s attention. After dramatically stating that his head tells him to go with Tony, he follows his heart and saves Cheesa instead.
