Miguel Returns To “Adorn” Pop With Sophistication

Miguel has defied convention ever since he first broke out with “Sure Thing” — he’s often thrown in with R&B radio stars like Usher, but in practice he’s a singer-songwriter straining against boundaries, fusing soul and rock in a fashion that recalls no one so much as Prince. Though he was none too pleased when his adventurous debut album didn’t score a Grammy nomination, he’s returned with an ambitious new project, a series of EPs he’s calling Art Dealer Chic. Yes, he painted the cover art too. Once more, he’s serving up sophistication and style. (There’s a reason we booked him for our Pray For Pop SXSW show last year.) Hear the single “Adorn” and click on the download link below.

“Adorn” is a subtle slow jam that suits Miguel’s understated vocals, and the simple but colorful splashes in the accompanying visuals add a playful, sexy vibe to what is otherwise an appealing little love song.
