Frank Ocean may have silky smooth vocals, but his Coachella set was unfortunately anything but — technical issues delayed Ocean’s eagerly awaited performance by a good 15 minutes, and sound troubles plagued him throughout. Still, he put on an intriguing set, beginning with an unexpected cover of Bob Dylan‘s lost masterpiece “Long Time Gone” before knocking out the his own swoon-inducing “Thinking About You”. Ocean had another surprise in store too — his Odd Future colleague Tyler, The Creator joined for “Analog 2”, off the recent The OF Tape Vol. 2 recording. But feedback and squealing sound put a damper on the proceedings. “I’m trying to be professional,” he said at one point. “But my sound is super fucked up.”

Watch Frank Ocean’s whole Coachella performance below.

Ocean of course also performed jams from his acclaimed Nostalia, Ultra mixtape, including “Strawberry Swing”. As Complex notes, Ocean closed with perhaps the most appropriate song of all: his hit “Novacane”, which references “a model broad… I met her at Coachella”. The “hometown” crowd, of course, went bananas. Did Ocean’s set have you swinging? Let us know on Facebook, Twitter or in the comments.
