“Wow. You guys are an amazing crowd,” Azealia Banks shouted to the packed tent before kicking off her Coachella 2012 set with “Grand Scam”. The 20-year-old MC was decked out in black and white striped spandex pants and matching bustier and rocking a purple wig (a surprising choice considering how hard she’s dissed Nicki Minaj for her wiggy ways). Joining Azealia on stage were two backup dancers that looked like they’d stepped off of a time machine straight from 1991 — which makes sense seeing that the rapptress’ debut LP 1991 drops this Tuesday (April 17). The New Yorker’s set included “212”, her Diplo collab “Fuck Up The Fun” and a cover of Prodigy’s 1996 UK hit “Firestarter”. Below, watch Azealia rocking “the biggest crowd [she’s] ever performed for”.
