Amongst the outpouring of sadness over the sudden death of Dick Clark, several pop stars shared personal mementos collected through years of interactions with the iconic TV host and producer. One of them was Grammy winning superstar Gloria Estefan, whose career with Miami Sound Machine built steam when the Latin pop group appeared on Clark’s American Bandstand in the 1980s. Estefan tweeted an image of a personal note she received from Clark in 1990 after they became friends and spent time together in Miami.

Estefan tweeted: “Dick Clark was very kind & thoughtful & we will hold mementos like these very dear…”

Clark wrote to Estefan and her husband Emilio, “We have been traveling since we saw you in Miami, Gloria & Emilio, but I just wanted to write a short note telling you how much we all enjoyed our evening together! Kari and I can’t remember when we laughed so much! It really was a special night.”
