Forget gumdrops and lollipops – the once typically cheery Katy Perry is going for a much darker look nowadays. A purple-haired Perry wore a sheer black dress and some super dark lipstick at the 2012 NARM Music Business Association Awards, held at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles last night (May 10). (“Oh my goth,” tweeted Katy, along with a pic of her flashing “heavy metal” hands on top of what looks like… a cloud? She’s sure come a long way since her Teenage Dream cover.)

“Katy’s music was absolutely everywhere over the past year, and her dominance of the singles charts is a nearly unprecedented accomplishment,” said NARM President Jim Donio before presenting the pop star with the award for Artist Of The Year. “She has unquestionably blossomed into a true global superstar and has earned this Award in every sense of the word.” At least Katy didn’t take her newfound goth look to heart, since she was all smiles while posing with her trophy.
