Chuck Brown, “Godfather Of Go-Go”, Dead At 75

Chuck Brown, the musician affectionately known as the “Godfather of Go-Go”, passed away at the age of 75 on Wednesday (May 16). Brown has been hospitalized with pneumonia for the last two months, and died of multiorgan failure due to sepsis.

Brown’s career kicked off in the 1960s, and became one of the pioneers of go-go music, a subgenre of funk. His 1970 single, “Bustin’ Loose,” was one of his biggest hits, and was later sampled by Nelly in his 2000 Grammy-winning dancefloor staple, “Hot in Herre.”  [Via ABC News]
